Healthy Granola Bars That Taste Unhealthy
These healthy and delicious granola bars are one of our family’s favorites! When I make them, they sure don’t last long. This is a super easy snack for your kids or for yourself – and they can also double as dessert. These granola bars are packed full of protein, healthy fats, & fiber which make them super satisfying. They are chewy, perfectly sweet, and loaded with nutrients that actually keep you full.
If you read my previous blog post you will know this, but just a reminder to always use quality ingredients in what you make. The recipe I’m about to give you has oats and chocolate chips in it, for example. Grab the organic and sprouted oats if you can, to easily level up the quality of these granola bars. I also always use dark chocolate morsels from the Enjoy Life brand in all my recipes that call for chocolate chips. They are free from 14 allergens and taste so, so good.
The best thing about these granola bars is that they also can easily be made into protein balls! Just roll these out into little bites instead of pressing them into bars. Same recipe, different shape!
Side notes:
If you do want to make protein balls instead of granola bars, I would recommend halving this recipe as it will make a ton of protein balls. Unless you feel like rolling out a lot of them at once and freezing them for later – that works great too!
You don’t need a stand mixer for this recipe, but it sure makes it easier!
Ok now for the recipe. I hope you enjoy these as much as I do! 😊
Healthy Granola Bars (or Protein Balls):
Ingredients:
2 cups natural PB
1 - 1 1/3 cup honey
2 tsp vanilla
(Combine wet ingredients in stand mixer)
5 cups oats
3+ heaping tbsp chia seeds
3+ heaping tbsp ground flax seeds
3+ heaping tbsp hemp hearts
1 tsp salt
½ cup chocolate chips
(Mix dry ingredients before slowly combining into the stand mixer)
Press into 9x13 pan (use parchment paper for easier removal).
Let harden in the fridge, then cut!
I store mine in a gallon ziplock bag in the fridge.
If I make protein balls, I roll them out and keep some in the fridge while freezing the rest for later.
